Ultrasound enables producers to know the carcass merit of their cattle and subsequently, assist them in developing an elite herd where progeny can be marketed for top dollar. Due to high input costs, we are no longer able to compete on the international trade market with commodity beef. It is in our best interest to produce the high quality beef demanded by our consumers.

CUP ultrasound enables producers to know carcass traits such as marbling, rib eye area, backfat thickness, and rump fat thickness. Data is accepted by breed associations for development of Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs). In herd ranking of animals can be a valuable tool in selecting future breeding stock and replacement heifers. Carcass traits measured by ultrasound are moderately to highly heritable, therefore, improvements in herd genetics can be made in a relatively short period of time. With quality management, an elite herd can be developed and marketed to other sectors of the industry for top dollar.

Cattle Performance Enhancement Company's (CPEC) management and ultrasound software enables feedlots to obtain the maximum potential profits out of every pen of cattle. The traditional method of managing a pen of cattle is replaced with the ability to manage cattle on an individual bases. CPEC software will compliment management software currently in place and provide additional information on selling cattle when/where they will be most profitable. With the current cost of production it is essential to maximize profits on individual animals.

Show and 4H ultrasound enables producers to know the same information as in CUP and CPEC ultrasound, but without the development of breed EPDs.
